Welcome back for Vegas Gang #10. Thanks to all of our listeners - we’ve had a lot of fun over the past 10 episodes and we hope you’ll stick around - lots more to come.
This time we get into some of the economic stories and how they impact Las Vegas - expensive gas, depressed casino stocks and more… Also, hear us go back and forth on the topic of the CityCenter walkout and more.
In prep for this episode I came up with quite a few stories, honestly most of them pretty small - no big blockbusters… Some interesting stuff but no big, whopper item to sink our teeth into.
Well, we went through a lot of those stories, with some good insights. Then, at the last minute, Jeff Simpson lets loose with an interesting theory - what would happen if you combined Wynn Resorts and Caesars Entertainment? Well, of course everyone had some thoughts on that one… Have a listen!
This time around we have a special guest, local writer Steve Friess. Steve’s book “Gay Vegas” is the only gay-specific travel guide for Las Vegas. We talk about how Las Vegas markets to ‘micro’ communities and certain social subsets.
Beyond that, we go over MGM Mirage exploring splitting up, beating continuous shufflers, new Las Vegas entertainment and more.
We’re back - only a couple of days late - I apologize for that. We’re back to the original gang this time around. I had a guest planned but my schedule got screwy so hopefully he’ll be on next time. Anyway, we covered a lot of interesting ground.
The Trop bankruptcy was breaking as we were recording and we started by touching on that.
In Macau, we discussed LVS and WYNN earnings (or lack thereof), the limit on new concessions and more.
Back in the States, we covered Atlantic City’s smoking ban and the Wynn Golf Course plans.
Welcome back! Once again we have a guest and this time its a potential life and death issue. Is there a problem in the way the building safety standards are applied and practiced in Las Vegas? We have Fred Frazetta, the whistleblower responsible for bringing the issue of Harrah’s alleged non-permitted renovations to light.
We cover not only Harrah’s but also the Monte Carlo fire and the non-response to a very scary and potentially life threatening scenario.
Lastly, we touch on both Danny Gans moving to Wynn Las Vegas and on the ongoing courtroom battle between Sheldon Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands and a Chinese consultant that claims he helped to make Macau happen for LVS.
We are back again, this time with guest Tom Breitling, formerly of the Golden Nugget. He has a new book out called ‘Double or Nothing’ in which he covers his successes at both Travelscape.com and the Nugget.
Tom was a lot of fun to talk to and I’m sure you’ll enjoy his commentary. I want to thank him for participating.
Well, we’re back - our first show served up from our new home here at VegasGangPodcast.com!
This show was a lot of fun for everyone I think - we were lucky enough to be joined part way through by Christina Binkley, author of ‘Winner Takes All’, a recently published account of the Las Vegas deal-making that has dominated the past few years.
Make sure you are subscribed to our new podcast feed, linked in the upper right. Also, the book is available below:
We talk the concept of ‘free’ and casinos, lots of fresh details on Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, Majestic’s Vegas numbers, and more. This is a don’t miss for Wynn fans.
The second time around, the topics include Crown investing in Harrah’s/Station, MGM Grand Detroit, Pure being raided by the IRS, Cuba as the next Macau and more.
